08 April Edition: Insomniac

INSOMNIAC -One who suffers from insomnia.Or someone who cannot sleep. It also refers to the title of Enrique Iglesias' latest 15 track music album.
Although I already knew this man almost a decade ago, I consider myself not a fan of him simply because his genre of music is not my type. Considering the fact that he is half Filipino by blood ( his mother is a socialite and Hola! magazine journalist Isabel Preysler is a Filipina)I happen to take a closer regard on him and actually end up addicted to his songs. One of my favorite is "Don't you forget about me" included in this album. According to him, the title INSOMNIAC came into consideration as a humorous nod to his sleepless nights and obsessive artistic persona. The record is clearly the most ambitious project of his phenomenal career.

"When I make a record, I work at night," says Enrique. "So basically I've spent three years working at night and sleeping during the day. I've been hyperactive all my life. The word insomniac was the first that came to mind when I was trying to come up with a suitable title for the album".

JANUARY Edition

Yesterday, Im thinking about what songs will compose my January Edition of MY MUSIC BOX. For the past years, since I knew these persons. I feel that they have been a part of my daily life, daily struggles, and everyday fights. Their music just penetrates me and made me stronger in a way that I was able to win most of my emotional downfalls. Being alone is not easy but with tthese people, I've made it. This New year. I would like to share some of these songs to you to meditate. May it brings comfort to as well.

Coldplay- an English Alternative band from London . Its members are vocalist and pianist Chris Martin , guitarist Jhonny Buckland, bassist Guy Berryman and drummer Will Champion.
Coldplay are one of very few current British music acts to achieve major success in North America. Despite Coldplay's large worldwide popularity, the band have remained protective of how their music is used in the media, refusing its use for product endorsements. In the past, Coldplay turned down multi-million dollar contracts from Gatorade, Diet Coke, and Gap, who wanted to use the songs "Yellow", "Trouble", and "Clocks" respectively. According to Martin, "We wouldn't be able to live with ourselves if we sold the songs' meanings like that."
Since 2002, Coldplay have been active supporters of various social and political causes. They have been visible advocates of Oxfam's Make Trade fair campaign and Amnesty International. The group has also performed at various charity projects such as Teenage Cancer Trust.

Josh Groban- is a 25-year-old baritone who is changing the face of the music world. With a classical voice combined with the young energy and appeal of a rock star, Josh Groban offers a refreshing alternative to the standard Top 40 fare. Crossing the boundaries that define radio's musical genres--pop, classical, rock--his music combines elements of romantic classical pieces with the beats and the synthesized sounds of world music .
Josh was born in Los Angeles, California...and still lives there when he isn't touring.
In addition to English, Josh sings in Italian, French, and Spanish, but doesn't speak those languages fluently.
Josh is not only a great vocalist but also a talented instrumentalist and composer. He plays both piano and drums, and he cowrote three of the songs on Closer, his second album.
He's sold over 14 million albums worldwide.

Andrea Bocelli- He posesses a very special gift; a voice that communicates directly with the heart. He sings with a universal language of the heart and soul. Its certainly the way millions of listeners like me feel about his voice. Bocelli is truly unique in touching such a vast audience, despite in singing in a language that the majority do not understand. With the unprecedented success of his classical career, He has caused core classical repertoire to "crossover" to the top of the international pop charts and into previously uncharted territory in popular culture.

Andrea was born in Lajatico, rural Tuscany, not far from the ancient city of Pisa. He describes his childhood and upbringing as an idyllic existence in the Tuscan countryside, sorrounded by the simplest plesures of family, friends, nature and music.
